20 Things About Christine Powell Meet REB Rebelwriters

What is REB? Why thank you for asking. It is Romantic Edge Books. It is a conglomerate of nine authors who have built friendships on their mutual love of writing and reading in the romance genre.
Who are the authors? You came to the right place. Learn all about us in each of our 20 things post. Check out mine below, then follow the link below for the posts by Melissa Lummis ~ Olivia Hardin ~ Liz Schulte~ Stephanie Nelson ~ Lola James ~ Mandie Stevens ~ Amanda Latzel~ Tawdra Kandle.
20 Things about Christine (CG) Powell

Christine keeps a jar of Sea Monkeys on her writing desk for inspiration (more like an ADD driven diversion...Squirrel!).

Christine spends too much time chatting up the way too cute mailman.

Christine has a crafting hobby that is out of control (like a bad episode of hoarders, but with beads, yarn and glitter).  She is also the owner of The Book Swag Shop.

Christine’s favorite meal is fruit, bread, cheese and wine. But she is okay if that meal is minus the fruit, bread and wine.

Christine loves winter, especially when it snows and she can curl-up by the fire and drink hot coco with Baileys.

Christine loves Sci-fi shows like Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate...But also loves science shows such as Through the Wormhole, Ancient Aliens, Hunting the Elements.

Christine started her writing career in February of 2011 when she told her family she was going to write a book. (Her husband and kids laughed and said “Yeah, right”.)  She sent her first novel to the editor 3 months later.

Christine keeps a motley crew of ninjas, cabana boys, minions, and dwarves (the Snow White kind).

Christine’s favorite Avenger is Thor.  Christine’s favorite eye-candy is Thor.  Christine’s imaginary boyfriend is Thor....

Christine was raised in Louisiana’s Cajun country where her mother’s family live.  Even though she has spent the last 15 years in Virginia, she is still Cajun at heart.

Christine was an inflight electronics technician and spent time in Guam, Diego Garcia, and Wake Island. (The ironic part is that she is not a fan of the beach)

Christine read encyclopedias as a teen they were her favorite books up until her husband introduced her to the World of Darkover by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

Growing up Christine wanted to be a Geologist that love stayed with her into adulthood and prompted her to become a GIA Gemologist.  Gemstones became a passion and lead her to the art of making jewelry.

Christine took a hula hoop class and still can’t hula hoop.

Christine is the proud owner of Pokémon Silver, Fire Red, Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby, Leaf Green, and Pearl. (Rangers is lame!!!)

Christine is Dyslexic and Ambidextrous. (Sill can’t tell her left from her right) She never let this stand in her way of writing.

Christine is not as outgoing as she would like to be, but still keeps trying.

Christine is not much of a drinker, but still likes Rum and Diet Coke, or Amaretto and pineapple juice on occasion.  She also enjoys Rummy Bears and Jello shots.

Christine was in pageants when she was a kid, she still has the 36 crowns she won and wears them during gatherings to remind her family she is still Queen.

At the theater when the screen goes dark and the room gets quiet at the beginning of the film, Christine has been known to say “Shhhh...we’re having sex.” loud enough for everyone to hear.

Here are the amazing writers of REB (Romantic Edge Books).  Without these beautiful ladies I’d be lost...for real, they would have to put a “Have you seen” picture of me on a wine bottle if it wasn’t for their guidance and friendship.

Loti Dupree’s meager healing abilities have been more a curse than a blessing. What’s the point if she can't save her husband from cancer? Harboring a painful secret, Loti flees the life they had in a small Appalachian town for the ashram, the spiritual retreat where she trained to be a yogini. But she finds herself running from more than grief when an ominous nightmare sets her on a dangerous path of self-discovery that challenges everything she believes--and threatens her life.

While dodging psychic attacks from an unknown assailant, Loti races to understand who and what she is before her enemy can catch up with her. To make matters worse, events throw her into the arms of a handsome but frustrating vampire. Love and light are waiting for her—if she can only figure out how to stay alive.

About the Author

Melissa Lummis considers herself a truth seeker, a peaceful warrior, a paranormal and fantasy writer, an avid reader, a thru-hiker GA->ME ’98, a wife, a mother, and a free thinker. She believes the universe conspires to help an adventurer, and that if we live our lives as if it is a daring adventure (and it is!), then everything we need will find its way to us.

The author lives in rural Virginia with her husband, two children, an Alaskan Malamute and a myriad of forest creatures. The nature of her mind dictates that she write to stay sane. Otherwise, her fertile imagination takes off on tangents of its own accord, creating scenarios and worlds that confuse the space-time continuum.

Namaste, dear friends.

An Author in the Kitchen – A Recipe for Disaster

I thought I would share one of my favorite recipes with you.

Steak in Wine Sauce

Ingredients :

2 lb super trim steak cut into cubes

3 slices of bacon

1 bottle of red wine (non-sweet)

1 carton of beef broth

1 pk Béarnaise sauce mix + ¼ cup butter and 1 cup milk

Optional Equipment:

Pressure Cooker...I’m impatient.

Wine Glass, but only if you have issues with drinking out of the bottle.

Throw bacon in pot and cook until crisp, remove bacon and save for later.  Turn the heat up on your stove to as high as it will heat for those of you who are privileged enough to have a gas stove.  Right before the smoke alarm goes off, toss in the steak, brown on all sides then lower the heat.  Remember to do that last part before you check your Facebook.  If not, just refer to the black specks as flavor crystals or change the recipe name to Blackened Steak.

Pour 1/3 of the bottle wine (note – Rum does not work, it must be wine) over the steak and simmer until you can’t smell the alcohol anymore then add the beef broth and put the lid on the pressure cooker or let cook until tender.

Once you have started the simmer process drink what’s left of the wine and snack on the bacon while you post on your facebook what you are cooking and your family and friends comment how yummy that sounds.

Make the béarnaise sauce according to the package and enjoy with your steak.  Oh, my friends said I really should include a picture with the here it is.

What is your favorite recipe?  Please share it with me.

Firewall by C.G. Powell Cover Reveal

I’m so excited to finally show everyone my cover...I can’t wait to finish writing it (soon....very soon).

Firewall (book 2 No Uncertain Logic Series) by C.G. Powell

“I hate to cut things short, but the sooner we get down to business the better.  I’ve made arrangements for a transport to take us to the Atlantis which is sitting in the Meranna Sea.”

Before Sarik could finish, Jael interrupted, “When did you move the ship?”

“Shortly after you left for Ibis Prime.  Orion felt he needed to keep an eye on me once Aphrodite arrived, so he sent a team to assist the move closer to the capital city.”  He looked to Neria and Aphrodite.  “Ladies, if you will follow me.  I will take you to the transport.”

They walked to a smaller docking area where a transporter ship was awaiting them.  Neria’s bags were already on board, as was Captain Ross.

Sarik raised one brow.  “How did you get here so quick?”

Captain Ross cleared his throat and rolled his eyes towards the cockpit where Tal sat.

“I thought you didn’t trust mist traveling?”  Sarik laughed.

“It took a while to get used to, but it has its benefits if you can get past the nausea and the whole cellular disintegration reassembly thing.”

Sarik nudged the captain with his elbow.  “Are you sure it has nothing to do with quantum entanglement with a certain Jinn?”

Speechless, Captain Ross’ reddened face spoke volumes.  He excused himself and joined Tal in the cockpit.

Looping her arm in Sarik’s, Jael frowned and continued towards the passenger area of the transport.  “Why do you tease the poor Captain?  I think it quaint that he has taken a liking to Tal even if she doesn’t return his affections.”

“What kind of friend would I be, if I didn’t acknowledge his obvious fondness?”

“Do you really want me entertain your question with an answer?”

“No, not really.”

Over the intercom the captain’s voice boomed, “Good morning, this is your captain.  Today’s flight should be a clear shot to the Meranna Sea area.  We have favorable atmospheric conditions and low level winds upon approach.  Our estimated arrival is 14:80 standard atomic time, that’s half-past lunch for those of you who still struggle with the local atomic conversion.”

Jael, Salima, and Aphrodite all turned and looked at Sarik.

Pursed lipped, Sarik stood and yelled toward the cockpit.  “Okay, you win.  Now get us the hell out of here.”

Grrr Dayights Savings Time!!!

Okay, it’s that time of year again.  And like always, I can’t help but to complain.  Of all the stupid and totally useless things our government has come up with, Daylights Savings Time has to be the worst.  I mean how screwy was the logic that brought us this notion that changing everyone’s natural Circadian rhythm would help people and businesses by having more daylight in the evening?  Personally I think it has about as much purpose in my life as an ant in my kitchen.  If I used the government’s logical approach, we should all have ants in our kitchen, they would take care of the crumbs that get dropped on the floor and save us valuable sweeping time...
If not for the fact that the local truancy officer would be knocking on my door to retrieve my little cupcakes for being one hour late every morning for the rest of the school year, I seriously think I would go the way of Arizona and totally ignore the existence of DST.  I think the whole concept should be abolished, especially in the northern latitudes where evening light can be a bit long in the summer—as if normal sundown at 12:30am in Nome, Alaska in June wasn’t bad enough, we just had to make sundown 1:30am...I’m sure the locals appreciate that.
So, this morning I raise my coffee cup (at 3:33 am because my sleep cycle is already screwed up from DST) to George Vernon Hudson for inventing DST *raises pitchfork* and all of you who will struggle with DST for the next 6 months.

Back to Basics

After months of not finding time or being motivated to write my usual posts, I’ve decided that it was time to get back to the basics.  I loved being able to come here and throw my random thoughts out there.  I guess after a few classes on how to blog, building a platform, blogging with an audience in mind, write posts that pertain to the books you write....blah, blah, blah, blah..... I felt like there were too many constrains on my creativity, it sucked the life right out of my blog and my ability to write a decent post.
I’ve come to realize that my platform is randomness...I’m a random kind of person.  It’s okay to write a post on mythology one day and cooking the next.  I don’t care if my blog highlights the awesome books I’ve written.  Eventually all my crazy will make you want to read the books I write—at least I hope it will.  If not, then enjoy the blog for what it is—the crazy ramblings of writer who enjoys other things in life besides writing books and trying to get people to buy them.

In case you were wondering why the Storm Trooper egg....Easter is coming up and I really want to make these...and some Star Trek peeps!

I hope that you will stop by on occasion and leave me a comment.  I promise to keep things interesting :-)

Wednesday Meme- What Author Do You Stalk?

Okay if you are anything like me, at this point you’re most likely asking yourself “What is a Book Meme.”

Not being an expert on the subject. I look at it like an interactive hop.  With that said, today’s topic: Stalker Day.

What author do you stalk?  Me?  I have a long and a short list, so I’ll give you the short list.

Liz Schulte -  I love that Liz is active with her fans.

Kinley MacGregor (aka- Sherrilyn Kenyon) – Master of Desire is one of my all-time favorite books....and Sherrilyn is so stalkable!

Stephanie Nelson – I’m not sure if it’s stalking or just me wanting to read the next Anna Avery story, so I put a bug in her ear....constantly.

L.K. Rigel - I love her books, and the teather series is my favorite!!!

Who do you stalk and why?  I would love to hear from you.
And don't forget to stop at the following blogs....I hear they are some pretty cool writers they like to stalk!
